教育理念を教えてください。  

What is your teaching philosophy? 

私たちの理念は・・
子供は英会話を教科書からではなく、周囲の大人の会話から自然に習得します。
親は子供たちに指導し、間違いを訂正しつつ、楽しく習えるようにするのです。

私たちのレッスンでは、友達感覚で一緒に多くの話題について話します。
子供たちが英会話を自然に習得していく過程のように、私たちが指導していく中で、あなたの間違いは丁寧に訂正し、何よりも英会話を楽しく習っていただける ように努力いたします。

多くの講師からレッスンを受講されることを強くお勧めするのには、下記の二つの理由があります。
 
１．英会話を習う際、テレビニュースを見るのと同じように、出どころの異なるさまざまな情報を得ることが大切です。
例えば、もしCNNニュースばかりを見ていたら、ただ一つの視点から情報をとらえることになります。それでは十分ではありません。
CNNだけでなく、FOXやNHK、BBCなど他局のニュースを見ることにより、より多くの視点から沢山の知識を得ることができるのです。
英会話の学習もこれと同じく、さまざまな講師から、色々と違ったことを学んでいただけるチャンスです。
また、話し方やスピードなどが違う多くの講師と話していただき、より実践的な英語を習得していただけると考えております。
 
２．時々、外国人と話すことに恐怖心を抱かれる方がいらっしゃいます。英語力不足と感じられ、ご自分の英語が通じるかどうか
自信がなかったり、失敗を恐れられるなど、さまざまな理由からです。
このような方々に、是非とも分かっていただきたいことがございます。
私たちアメリカ人は、英会話を習得しようと努力されている方々を批判するようなことはございません！
ほとんどのアメリカ人は、困っている人を助けようとします。また、自分たちの文法もパーフェクトではないと分かっているので、
他人を批判することはできないのです。
私が講師を採用する際の重要なポイントは、フレンドリー、高い指導力、そして聞き上手であることです。当方の講師陣は
これらを兼ね備えた優秀な人材であると自負しております。

十人十色でしょうね。     Each to his own.   
お互いの呼吸をあわせる。   To be in tune with someone.
みんなさんは学ぶことがあります。みんなさんは教えることがあります。   Everyone has something to teach.  Everyone has something to learn.




Our philosophy: 
Children do not learn conversational English from a textbook. 
They learn by speaking and listening. 
Their parents guide the children.
Their parents correct the children.
Their parents make learning fun and interesting.

We speak together as friends on many topics.
During our classes, we guide you, correct you and hopefully make it interesting and fun!

I highly recommend learning English from many different teachers for 2 reasons.
 
1.  Learning English is like watching news on television.・・・・You must get your information from many different sources.
If you only watch the news on CNN, you will only get one point of view.  Your learning will not be complete.
But you will truly learn all of the facts if you watch CNN and FOX and NHK and BBC!
This is why it is important to take many different teacher's classes.
Learning English from many teachers will give you a more complete understanding of pronunciation, grammar, idioms and vocabulary because you learn different things from different people.
 
2.  Sometimes people feel a fear of speaking with a foreigner.  Perhaps they feel that their English is not good enough.  Maybe they fear that they will not be understood or that they will make a mistake.  These people must understand that Americans do not criticize someone who is trying hard to learn a new language!  Most Americans will always try to help a person in need.  Most Americans know that their OWN grammar is not perfect so they do not criticize other people!  When I choose teachers for Hello English, I make sure that they are very friendly people with good skills in teaching and listening.

How to make the most of your experience at Hello English 

アメリカ人講師は、生徒様の英語の間違いの指摘・訂正を躊躇することがあります。というのは、日常生活では他人の間違いを訂正しすぎることは好 ましくなく、批判とみなされ、大変無礼に当たるとされる背景があるからです。講師は、このようなことを克服し、生徒様の間違えた（不適切な）表現を訂正し ながらも、生徒様に自信を持って話していただけるように応援していくべきであると考えております。

　間違いの訂正が少なすぎると、正しい英会話力が身につきません。
　間違いの訂正が多すぎると、自信を失い話すことが恥ずかしくなったりします。
　少なすぎるか多すぎるかという微妙な境界線は、それぞれの生徒様によって違います。
是非、レッスン中に下記のような丁寧で役立つフレーズを使ってみてください。

I would like it if you could correct me more, please.
もっと私の間違いの訂正をお願いしたいのですが。

I need you to correct my ~~~~ more, please.  (pronunciation, grammar, etc)
私の~~~~（発音、文法など）をもっと直してください。

Please focus hard on my ~~~~.
私の~~~~に重点を置いてください。

Can you type my sentences in the Skype message box so I can see my mistakes?
自分の間違いが分かるので、私の言った文をスカイプのメッセージボックスにタイプしてくださいますか？

以上のように言っても、まだ訂正が足りないと思われたら、下記のフレーズは少し強い表現になりますが、使ってみてください。

I don't feel you are correcting me enough.  I really want to know the correct way to speak.
先生は私の間違いをちゃんと直してくださっているように思えません。私は、本当に正しい表現を知りたいのです。

 　英会話を楽しみながら学ぶには、生徒様と講師が力を合わせる事が必要です。申し上げましたような方法で、Hello Englishでのレッスンを 最大限に活かしていただけたらと思います。

Sometimes an American teacher is hesitant to correct a student too much. 
Socially, it is not acceptable to correct someone too much in every day life.  It is seen as criticism and very rude!  Teachers must overcome these societal boundaries and find a balance between correcting a student and encouraging a student.

Too little correction and the student does not learn.
Too much correction and the student will become discouraged and too shy to speak.
It is a thin line between too little and too much correction and each student is different!
You can help your teacher by using these polite, helpful phrases during class.

I would like it if you could correct me more, please.
I need you to correct my ~~~~ more, please.  (pronunciation, grammar, etc)
Please focus hard on my ~~~~.
Can you type my sentences in the Skype message box so I can see my mistakes?

This is a little stronger if the above does not work to your satisfaction:
I don't feel you are correcting me enough.  I really want to know the correct way to speak.
Remember, conversation and learning takes 2 people.  This is a small way that you can make your learning experience at Hello English more effective.
